Jupiter is about halfway through rebuilding its town playgrounds. Three were finished in 2025. Three more were set to reopen in October. Daily Park is due by the end of the year, and the rest are spread out through 2029. Every park in the program gets the same design, because the town built it from what parents kept asking for. So the useful question for a family in Abacoa, the Heights or near Military Trail is when their park gets its turn. What it will look like is already settled.
One piece is behind. The splash pad at Indian Creek Park, which the town calls its most heavily used playground, was on the 2026 schedule. It is now planned for 2027.
The Design Started With a Playground Outside Town Limits
This program started with parents. Gold Coast Wave reported that parents spoke up at council meetings and on social media, and many made the same request: build playgrounds like the one in Alton. People liked that playground's clean, accessible layout and modern design, and it became the model families wanted in Jupiter.
Alton isn't a Town of Jupiter park. The town's playground FAQ says it maintains playgrounds only in town-managed parks, and it lists Alton as under Palm Beach Gardens jurisdiction or privately owned. So for a while, the playground many Jupiter families held up as the standard sat outside the town's control.
The town responded with a plan that covers most of its own parks. It held a public input session in spring 2024 and a town-wide survey after that, then asked for feedback again when the first designs came out in summer and fall 2024. Each round brought back the same requests: more shade from trees and structures, play areas for children of every ability, swings for all ages, splash pads and accessible restrooms.
One Design, Repeated Park by Park
Because people kept asking for the same things, the town settled on one design. Under the Jupiter Playground Renovations Roadmap, every rebuilt site gets the same core features:
- Inclusive play equipment designed for children of all ages and abilities
- Synthetic turf surfacing that is smooth enough for wheelchairs; the town's FAQ identifies the product as certified PFAS-free PlayGround Turf 55
- Swings and imaginative play features at every location
- Shade structures where needed, with mature trees kept wherever possible
The town replaced old equipment outright and didn't patch it. That choice means a rebuilt playground at Maplewood and a rebuilt playground at Abacoa have the same core features. What the parks around them offer is a different story. Abacoa Community Park has tennis, pickleball, racquetball and basketball courts. Heights of Jupiter Park has a sand volleyball court and a basketball court.
Where Each Park Falls on the Schedule
When the design is the same everywhere, the schedule is what tells parks apart. WPTV published the town's year-by-year roadmap in May 2025, and it remains the clearest public outline of the order.
| Roadmap year | Parks scheduled | Where things stand in early November 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Indian Creek Park Phase I, Jupiter Community Park, Maplewood Park | Finished in 2025 |
| 2026 | Abacoa Community Park, Heights of Jupiter Park, Miracle Moment Park Playground at the Community Center | Closed in July, scheduled to reopen in October |
| 2026 | Daily Park | Scheduled to be finished by the end of the year |
| 2026 | Indian Creek Park Phase II, bathroom and sprayground | Restroom expected this fall; splash pad now planned for 2027 |
| 2027 | FIND Park, Jupiter Village Park | Upcoming |
| 2028 | Old Town Hall Park, Lighthouse Park | Upcoming |
| 2029 | Officer Bruce St. Laurent Park | Upcoming |
WPTV described the plan as renovating 12 of the town's 13 parks over five years, at a total cost of $6.8 million. The town's own FAQ describes the program as replacing 11 playgrounds, so the official count depends on which document you read.
The spending wasn't spread evenly. WFLX reported that the first three projects were approved at $2,674,504.99. That is nearly 40 percent of the $6.8 million total, spent on 3 of the 12 sites. One of those first three was Indian Creek, the playground the town calls its most heavily used, so the busiest site got the first upgrade.
The Fall Three Were Due Back in October, With Less Ceremony Than Planned
The Palm Beach Post reported in July that the Heights, Jupiter Community Center and Abacoa playgrounds had closed for summer renovations, with reopening planned for fall. By early October, the Post reported that all three were set to reopen that month with new equipment and shade structures.
The town set back-to-back ribbon cuttings, each at 4 p.m., which lines up with school pickup:
- Thursday, October 8, at the Community Center playground, 200 Military Trail
- Friday, October 9, at Heights of Jupiter Park, 15215 East Revelle Circle
- Monday, October 12, at Abacoa Community Park, 1501 Frederick Small Road
The first one never happened. On October 1, the town posted a public notice saying the Community Center ribbon cutting "has been canceled." The notice gave no reason and no new date. On the roadmap, that site is called Miracle Moment Park Playground. If that's your nearest playground, check the town's roadmap page for its current status before you go.
The Community Center itself has a full November calendar whatever the playground's status. The town calendar lists free Toddler Open Gym on Thursday mornings, November 5, 12 and 19, for ages 0 to 4, Kids Night on November 7, and Teen Night on November 21, all at 200 Military Trail.
Indian Creek Gets Its Restroom First and Its Splash Pad Later
Indian Creek Park had the first rebuilt playground, finished in 2025, and it has the longest list of follow-up work. The town calls it its most heavily used playground. A new restroom building there has been under construction since May and is expected this fall.
The splash pad is behind schedule. WPTV's 2025 report said a water play area and a restroom would come to Indian Creek in 2026, and the town's FAQ still lists both as Phase 2 work. As of October, Gold Coast Wave reports the splash pad is planned for 2027.
Splash pads and accessible restrooms were among the requests that came up again and again in the 2024 input rounds. The restroom is arriving roughly on schedule. The water play, which was meant to set the busiest park apart from the rest, is the part that moved back a year.
Jupiter Community Park, another 2025 playground site, has work of its own nearby. Fields seven and eight, about 160,000 square feet of natural grass, are being rebuilt with new sand, root zone material, Bermuda sod and irrigation. That work was expected to finish by mid-fall.
The Back Half of the Schedule Runs Through 2029
After Daily Park, five sites remain. FIND Park and Jupiter Village Park are next in 2027. Old Town Hall Park and Lighthouse Park follow in 2028, and Officer Bruce St. Laurent Park is last on the 2029 schedule. The roadmap dates come from a 2025 plan, and the Indian Creek splash pad has already slipped a year. Treat the later years as targets.
For families near those parks, the design is already known. Their playground will get the same inclusive equipment, turf surfacing, swings and shade as Abacoa and Maplewood. Until then, the closest finished playground is the best stand-in, whether that is Indian Creek, Maplewood, Jupiter Community Park or one of this fall's three once the town confirms they are open.
